1. Mother Theresa
Mother Teresa, born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu in 1910 in Macedonia, is celebrated as one of the most influential Christian women of the 20th century. She founded the Missionaries of Charity in 1950, and dedicated her life to serving the poorest of the poor in Calcutta, India. Her deep Christian faith and commitment to living out the teachings of Jesus Christ were evident in her tireless work among the sick, dying, and destitute.
Mother Teresa's approach was profoundly rooted in the Christian doctrine of love and compassion. She viewed every person she helped as “Jesus in disguise,” believing that in serving the needy, she was serving Christ Himself. Her work extended beyond physical aid; she provided spiritual comfort and hope to those who were often abandoned by society.
Her humble and selfless service garnered worldwide recognition, earning her the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979. Despite receiving numerous accolades, Mother Teresa remained focused on her mission, continually emphasizing the importance of small acts of kindness performed with great love.

2. Susan B. Anthony
Susan B. Anthony, born in 1820, was a pivotal figure in the women's suffrage movement in the United States and a committed Christian. She was raised in a Quaker family, and her faith profoundly influenced her commitment to social justice. The Quaker belief in equality and the inherent worth of every individual fueled her passion for advocating for women's rights and the abolition of slavery.
Anthony co-founded the National Woman Suffrage Association in 1869 with Elizabeth Cady Stanton, tirelessly campaigning for women's right to vote. Her dedication to this cause was unwavering, despite facing significant societal and legal opposition. Anthony's Christian convictions underpinned her activism; she believed that justice and equality were divine mandates, and she frequently cited biblical principles to support her arguments for women's rights.
Her strong moral compass and belief in social equality also led her to work towards temperance and the abolition of slavery. Anthony's activism was not only a fight for gender equality but also a broader struggle for human rights, reflecting her deep-seated Christian values.
3. Rosa Parks
Rosa Parks is celebrated as one of the most influential figures in the American Civil Rights Movement. Her act of defiance on December 1, 1955, when she refused to give up her bus seat to a white passenger in Montgomery, Alabama, became a catalyst for the movement. Parks’ deep Christian faith played a significant role in her activism and courage.
Raised in a devout Christian family, Parks was a lifelong member of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Her faith informed her strong sense of justice and equality. Parks believed that all people were created equal in the eyes of God, a conviction that fueled her fight against racial segregation and discrimination.
After her arrest, Parks’ act of civil disobedience sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott, led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., which lasted over a year and resulted in a Supreme Court ruling that segregation on public buses was unconstitutional. Throughout her life, Parks remained steadfast in her Christian beliefs, advocating for civil rights with a spirit of nonviolence and love for all humanity.
Rosa Parks' legacy extends beyond her famous bus protest; she continued to work for social justice, equality, and human rights throughout her life. Her steadfast faith and moral conviction made her a powerful symbol of the fight for civil rights, embodying the Christian values of justice, equality, and love.
4. Joan of Arc
Joan of Arc, born in 1412 in Domrémy, France, is renowned as a heroic Christian woman who played a pivotal role in the Hundred Years' War between France and England. From a young age, Joan experienced visions of saints and angels, whom she believed were guiding her to support Charles VII in reclaiming the French throne. Deeply devout, Joan's faith in her divine mission propelled her to seek an audience with Charles and convince him of her divinely inspired mandate.
Clothed in armor, Joan led French troops to several significant victories, including the pivotal Battle of Orléans in 1429, which marked a turning point in the war. Her leadership and unyielding faith bolstered the morale of the French soldiers and earned her widespread admiration. Joan's conviction that she was fulfilling God's will gave her the courage to challenge societal norms and the male-dominated military hierarchy of her time.
In 1920, nearly five centuries after her death, Joan of Arc was canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church. Her life and actions remain a powerful symbol of faith, courage, and the enduring impact of a young woman guided by her Christian beliefs.
All these women were very important in history, while still being unique and having different backgrounds. No matter who you are, you can have a huge impact of the lives of those around you.
