Returns & Exchanges

We want you to absolutely love your dress, and we understand sometimes it takes a couple of tries to get the right size and style. That’s why we are happy to offer returns and exchanges within the following criteria:

Return Window

Returns and exchanges must be initiated and postmarked within 30 days of the order being shipped. If it has been longer than 30 days, your return cannot be accepted. 

Item Return Condition

Items are eligible for return or exchange ONLY if they meet the following criteria:

  • free of any deodorant or makeup marks
  • tags are still attached
  • item is in the original packaging
  • not been washed, snagged, stained, or damaged in any way
  • fragrance-free, neatly folded, no marks of any kind, no pet hair
  • please note that items marked FINAL SALE are not eligible for return or exchange
  • we do not accept returns on gift cards

We can't accept anything that doesn't meet the criteria listed above.

We adore our customers, and we want you to have a great experience with us! We work hard to give out generous returns and exchanges. However, this process is very costly to us, so please read our criteria and follow the guidelines so that both you and we can have a positive experience.

Redo Return Insurance

Redo is a 3rd party partner of Poet Dresses that allows customers to add free return shipping to their order.

  • Customers now have the option to pay a small fee at the time of purchase to later qualify for free unlimited returns/exchanges on that order. (You also have the option to add package protection at this time.)
  • If you did not purchase Redo with your order, you can still use our return portal below and purchase a return label. No return fee is deducted from your refund total! 

Return Steps:

  1. Start your return at the link below using your email or zip code and order # or tracking #.
  2. Select which items you would like to return and your preferred refund method: refund, store credit, or exchange for a new item.
  3. If you purchased Redo return insurance with your order, your return/exchange is covered! Otherwise, you can purchase your label for a one-time fee.
  4. Print your label and attach it to the top of the package.
  5. Transfer your package to the correct shipping carrier via drop off or pick up.

*Once a return has been requested, you have 14 days to send the item back. If the item is not sent within that window, the system will automatically close your return, and it will no longer be accepted, even if it is still within the original 30-day return window. Please send the item back within the requested time frame in order to avoid any issues with your return.

Once we receive your return/exchange, and the item is determined to be in eligible condition, we will (1) provide the refund to the original form of payment, (2) provide store credit, or (3) send out the exchange item to the original order address.

It may take up to 48 hours after it is received for us to process a return/exchange.

Denied Returns

If your return/exchange does not qualify for the above criteria, your request will be denied.

You will receive an email informing you why your return was denied. If you would like picture evidence of the denial claim, you may email us at support@poetdresses.com.

As a courtesy, we will pay for a shipping label to send your denied return to the original delivery address. (This courtesy only applies to orders within the USA. International orders may pay to have their denied return shipped back to them.)

We apologize for the inconvenience, but we simply cannot accept returns for items that are not in a condition to be resold.

Damaged/Defective Item Claims:

While we do our best to catch any mistakes before shipping, if your item arrives damaged or defective, please follow this link to file a claim and receive a replacement:

Shipping Claims:

Once your order has been given to the carrier service, we do not have control over the shipping time. Updates to your shipping time must be handled between the customer and the carrier service. Poet Dresses cannot compensate customers for delayed delivery due to the shipping carrier, as this is outside of our control.

If your order is marked as delivered by the shipping service, but you are not able to find the package, you must contact the shipping service to file a missing package claim. Poet Dresses is not responsible for any mishandling of the package by the carrier service. Shipping disputes must be handled between the customer and the carrier service.

International Returns/Exchanges:

While Poet Dresses is owned and operated within the USA, we DO accept international returns and exchanges with a few additional criteria:

  • International orders are not eligible for Redo return insurance or package protection. 
  • International customers are responsible for all shipping costs, customs duties, and taxes as part of their return.
  • We do not generate international shipping labels through our returns portal. The customer is responsible for purchasing a label from a local shipping carrier and sending it to our warehouse.

  • If an international return arrives at our warehouse and does not qualify for the return criteria listed above, your refund/exchange will be denied. The customer may choose to pay for shipping to have the item returned to them.
